ST BERNARD’S COLLEGE – THE PIAZZA & QUAYS

This project unfolds with the vision of crafting a vibrant Commons area for students, thoughtfully positioned in proximity to the new Student study zone and Canteen. Seamlessly integrated into the campus layout, these spaces are strategically designed for easy accessibility from multiple points, with large openings that facilitate a seamless flow of connectivity and an abundance of natural daylight. In harmony, they form a dynamic nexus for the campus community, fostering collaboration and enriching the overall student experience.  The piazza stands as the vibrant nucleus of the College, shaping its new beating heart. This meticulously designed space serves as the paramount gathering point, where students, staff, and visitors converge to connect, interact, and unwind. Seamlessly linking vital segments of the College, the design draws inspiration from the traditional yarning circle and thoughtfully weaves in elements of a riverbed, paying homage to indigenous heritage and its profound connection to Steel Creek. In its form and function, this architectural design encapsulates the essence of community, culture, and place.

EAGLEMONT RESIDENCE

Situated in Walter Burley Griffin’s Mount Eagle Estate the Eaglemont Residence has commanding views over Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Our brief was to create a robust and timeless family home to capture the views over Melbourne whilst connecting the living spaces to the park at the rear. Drawing on our experience of working with concrete, metal and timber our aim was to create an honest expression of these materials throughout the project that will endure for many years.
